Buena Vista Regional Medical Center More Knowledge For Us Who Want To Be A Nurse.

Buena Vista Regional Medical Center (BVRMC) is the hospital in Storm Lake. BVRMC is a big building, there are 3 floors. The first floor is the emergency room, the second is the pregnancies and the babies room, and the third floor is the medical room. There also have clinic, cafeteria, and cafe latte inside the building.

To be a nurse you will take college for at least 4 years. Several nurses take care of the infants in the OB unit center. Everytime the baby born they play a song melody and it makes people feel happy to hear the melody. There are about 30 babies born in a month at the BVRMC. The average baby suppos be about 6 pounds and the nurses check their body temperature every time to make sure the babies are healthy. When the baby turn yellow it called jaundice and it is a bad sign because it can cause brain damage.

There are many jobs opportunity in BVRMC. There are different degree to get each job in the BVRMC. For example most nurses need to have 4 or 2 years degree. People can also volunteer at the coffee shop because it is good for their resume and it is important to use yourself in a helpful way. People who volunteers will get more jobs experience. Other jobs that are available in there are translator, Chef and cooks, nurses, and doctors.

7th day, Hospital

Yesterday we went to the hospital and they showed a building for differents jobs in the hospital. For example, they have different place like infants born , doctors , nurses, X ray tech, and many job in the hospital. They have a special like living room, Library, swimming pool, quiet room/church, coffee shop, valet parking, and also elevators that help the people get to places faster.

One interesting job is the Ob nurses that are in charge of the babies that born there. Each month 30 babies are born, that is about one baby per day. The Ob nurses are checking each 30 minutes if the babies are breathing correctly and if their temperature is right too. Others think that they have to make sure when a baby born is their weight and the skin color, because sometimes the color skin can be signs of a sickness.

There are also some color lines that helps people to get a different places, is important to know that the hospital has also translators that can help you to have medical care even if you speak a different language.
They have a special room of therapists that help people with disabilities in their bones or another part of their body, they have a swimming pool that is part of the therapies because many of the exercises happen at the pool.

Care For Others

At the hospital on the second floor is a every beautiful place. It clean and smell nice because that is where the baby are. Also when a baby born, there will be a beautiful sound that will tell everyone that there were a new baby born. After the baby born it will lost weight because the baby will need to move around, eat and drink, so that why they will lost weight. The second floor is only have one door because it will keep the baby safe, and that will make the parent don't worry too much. It a really nice place for a newborn baby.

Also we saw many kind of difference jobs, like nurses, paramedic, receptionist physical occupation therapist, lab people and many others. From the paramedic room we learned what they do and how answer to  an emergency,we saw the ambulance  and the stuff there were. The nursery job was very interesting many things they have to do for example take care of the infants. Also  we learned how the medical server work.
We saw many professional people and how they take care about their jobs and the patient.

The people that have patient in the hospital they can go to the church room to pray for their patient. The people can also go to coffee shop too, all people can visit their family and can buy flowers for  them. The people can go to the restaurant of the hospital too, they have good food. Also the people can go to the  gym for to be exercised and can go to swimming pool too.

Visit to to the Hospital in Storm LAke

We went to the hospital and we got to learn a lot things and we saw where the baby stays after they're born. We know most about babies that are born they get warmer, cry a lot, and if their skin turns yellow it would damage their brains and they would have something with their liver. Also they check the temperature every few hours because, sometimes their body temperature gets too hot or too cold.

There's plenty of jobs like being a nurse, interpreter, cooks, paramedic, and mostly they are doctors, The time that takes to be a nurse it would have to go to college for four years and get a degree in medicine. People like to have experience with new things like give tours and volunteer for things that they would enjoy showing to people with no experience at all.

They're a lot of rooms and they're divide it into sections of type of injury or age. I think that one if the most important is the baby section because there're  should be really careful because little babies are like really exposed to everything and they should take care if them more often and with more care. The rehab room is where they encourage people to exercise while they're getting better and mostly work on muscles and also like they try to also work on things like cardio if you have any heart problems that way you cab get better while you're in the hospital, they also have a swimming pool with a treadmill and also water jets that way you can exercise like more intensive in water and by walking in the water it makes your body less stress because the buoyancy force takes less weight against you and it's pretty nice to have all those privileges while rehabilitating in the hospital.

Day 7th Go To A Hospital

We went to the hospital on June 10, 2014. We went to see and learn some of the stuff at the hospital that we never seen before. We know that they have a cafeteria inside the hospital. They open for public. We know for sure that hospital is a medical care. They have flowers shop and cafe. We see a lot of rooms and a lot of nurses. Is was kind fun to see a lot of stuff inside the hospital.
They have a special room that is call quiet room. You can sit in that room and think and they have the special thing inside the room, like bible. In the clinic they have a place where they take care of old people. When a new baby is born they play a song for a baby. When the mother give birth to infant they take care of the baby right away. They check the weight of the baby and the skin if is yellow or not. They have only one door to get in and out for guard if someone steal the baby.
They do have a lot of jobs available at the hospital. They have nurse job and chef that work in the cafeteria. They have doctor position available of course. Some of the outside can volunteer to help the hospital like tour guide. They have cooking position and cleaning position. They have security to guard the hospital for some reason if someone steal the baby. They have x-ray position to apply and work their. Both of the gender can work as a nurse, but they need man the most for the muscle.
They have people to help you at the parking lot to carry your stuff. The surgery room is at the first floor. They have an exercise room for the old people to work out. Before you go to the hospital, you don't have to call and make appointment you just walk in. If the case is so bad they will call the helicopter and bring you to Sioux City.

Day 7

THE HOSPITAL:  We went to the hospital, and we learn a lot, a lot of different things. I didn't know they had a weight room, or a pool to exercise and get well. Also now I know what those blue and red spots in the carpet mean. One goes to the hospital and the other one to the clinic. We saw a lot of people, who go and take shots, get medicine, and that work there.

But the best of the best, was the second floor. We got to see where the women give birth. Also the little shelf where they literally checked everything in a baby when is born. For example, they checked the color screen, if it is yellow it can be something about brain damage. But one of the most important things is the heart rate.

I also learned something really cool, the third floor from the Hospital is mainly offices. Offices like the chef, etc. Also they offer meals in the weekends. The elevator goes to 3 floors of course and it could carry all of us. They have a coffee shop that the workers go to relax etc. There's a quiet room, that you can and pray, or just stay strong.

Hospital

Visiting the Hospital was a good experience, we got to see almost all of the things in there like the rehabilitation room, the room where a baby is delivered and where they keep them warm. We also went into an ambulance and got to see the cafeteria which it was great because it is a public one and I didn't know. When we first went inside the hospital we had rules to follow the first one was no talking and the second one was no playing around, I think that we did a good job following them. What I found really funny was when we got into the elevator, we were like 25 people in there and a little bit heavy but we all fitted in there.
After getting off the elevator there was a lady who explained to us all questions we had about babies, it was very interesting that once a baby is born they have to work and check a lot of things to make sure that the baby is safe. When babies are born the nurses check their skin because if it is yellow it may cause them to get brain damage. It is really hard for babies to adapt to a new environment because they had over nine months in their mom's belly so they have to be as warm as they were so now nurses try to hand the babies to their mom so they can feed them and keep them warm because they also want to get rid of the white things a baby has in their eyes or bod.
The Hospital also counts with a rehabilitation room with physical and therapists people that help older persons rehab my making them do exercise and different kind of activities. This room has a wonderful swimming pool, I loved it I also wished that I could touch the water, I found it so unique for people that need to get better. When we were upstairs we went into an interesting room, a quiet room where families, friends any people can go and take their emotions out because of something wrong happening, people pray in there, stay there to have a quiet moment and also there is bibles.
We enjoyed this Tour, it was very interesting all the things that we saw also knowing that there is over four hundred people serving to the hospital and that they also count with a BVU clinic.
